Requiem for a Prime

Optimus walked through the abandoned city of Iacon. hard to believe so long ago this was the site of beauty and prosperity, a symbol of peace on all of Cybertron. then came the wars.

Holybird stood by her "leader" the way she always did. She often never said a word while Optimus walked around Iacon, but she never left his side in these desparate times. Today was one of the few days she would speak, "Something is troubling you sir?"

"Just recalling how the war started," Prime answered.

Holybird sighed, she pushed herself against Optims a little, a draconic way of showing affection "It has been a long war hasn't it. I wasn't around the Autobots, or any of your kind during that time." The older dragon sighed. She may of been achient, but she was still in the prime of her life. "Care to talk it out?"

"Very well." Optimus said. he looked over at Holybird. glad he finally had someone to tell the war story who hadn't heard it before or had been there.

Holybird sat on her haunches, and curled her long tail several times around her feet for warmth. She stared at her "master" with those big silvery-blue eyes. They seemed innocent at first glance, but staring deeper shared a story.

"I was a mere energon loader back in the golden days. back then Megatron was an energon miner who rose up through the illegal gladiator games. and then... disaster struck," Optimus told the dragon.

A low rumbling ommited from Holybirds throat as she listened.

"I was outfitted for war like many other autobots. the days of work was no more. a war had broken out. soon enough even Zeta Prime, the current leader, fell victim. I was the one who had to take on duty as the new Prime." Optimus explained.

"And so the rivalry between you and Megatron began?" Holybird sighed. "Master, if I may ask a question, why can we not simply lay down our guns? I learned once, that it takes two to fight. And that if one chooses to passivly attack, victory can be obtained without major casualties"

"Megatron is twisted. he may fight with honor. but he is willing to kill anything, even if it's not attacking him. just to control cybertron."

Holybird looked down at her feet, a low clicking was heard, expressing sadness. 'it was worth a try' Holybird thought to herself. "Master, I promise, upon the graves of my fallen ansestors that I shall stand by you until the end, may it be bitter death or the end for this awful war, I will be there, if you stand by me."

"I will. I wouldn't have it any other way," Prime said holding up his hand in a jester that made it seem like he wanted to arm wrestle.

Holybird grabbed Optimus' hand in a firm grip, that gleam of adventure in her eye. The Cybertronain night was dawning upon the friends. Since there was no way to heat the metal planet, it got very cold at night.

"Let us find shelter. I know how you are barely able to move at night." Optimus said.

Holybird nodded keeping close to Optimus. "Iacon is rather creepy at night, like a ruined city in a zombie apcolypse movie." the dragon shivered, "creeps me out."

Optimus nodded. "perhaps you would be warmer in human form," Optimus said before transforming into truck mode.

Holybird stared at Optimus for a few seconds then sighed knowing he knew best. She morphed down into her chosen human form. The avarage sized female climbed into Optimus Primes cabin of his Earthly disguise, a red semi-truck. She closed the door and buckled herself in, then hugged her knees for warmth while the heater did its job. "...thanks"

"It is not a problem." Optimus said before taking off. Shelter would be nearby. somewhere.

Meredith watched the world of Cybertron go by. In the dark, it really did look like a scene for a zombie apcolypse. She hugged her knees, either she was still cold or the setting was triggering a human defense tactic. Whatever the case, Meredith was slowly falling asleep. She tried to fight it off, knowing it is a little awkward to find a sleeping fleshling in your cabin.

Optimus did not try to stop her. he continued to speed along until he saw a large empty building. still in working condition.

"Prime..." Meredith spoke all of a sudden, "There is something moving out there." How could Meredith know if her eyes were closed? The human sense of danger? Or maybe adventure?

Optimus felt it too. it felt familiar. at the same time opposite. "I know who it is," Prime said as a mighty roar screeched across the sky.

Meredith grabbed the seatbelt, growling lowly, a threat to go Holybird, ready for an all out brawl.

"Remember the current temperature," Prime told her. then he saw it. up on top of a building holding the dead carcass of a fallen autobot was her. she did not seem affected by the cold at all. Optimus took a closer look and saw a band around her neck of some sorts.
